During the foaming process
Foaming Process control for infra-red ovens
The monitoring of the foaming process is done via integrated thermocouples. Hence we have an in sito temperature control of the sandwich parts and can control the characteristic temperature curves and the process progress.
- Visual inspection:
Another method is the visual inspection. With telltale holes in the sandwich top cover layer the foaming progress can be controlled. When the aluminium foam protrudes from the hole, the foaming process is completed.
After the foaming process:
- Pore size distribution:
For the analysis of the pore size distribution foremost, a picture of the foam structure is taken. This is done with X-ray or computer tomography. With assistance of a software the pore size distribution can be calculated.
