Lightweight, durable, forward-looking - new floor elements for rail transport

This year, our company is once again driving forward the mobility of tomorrow. After focusing on roof elements last year, we are now turning our attention to another detail: floor elements for passenger trains.

Requirements are particularly high in entrance areas – whether in subways, regional or long-distance transport: wide doors with extendable (wheelchair) ramps require large spans, while only limited installation space is available. This is where our innovative floor panels set new standards.

Thanks to our sandwich panels with aluminum foam cores, the panels can be installed quickly and easily. Manufacturing using a foaming process directly onto the final contour minimizes reworking and waste and enables smooth transitions between different material thicknesses to compensate for height differences, for example – for maximum comfort when boarding and alighting.
Another plus: the metallic bond between the foam and the cover sheet guarantees a service life that easily matches that of the vehicle. The result is a combination of lightness, durability, and maximum functionality—perfectly tailored to the complex requirements of rail transport.

With these innovations, we are making mobility more efficient, barrier-free, and future-proof—another step toward making rail transport even more comfortable and sustainable.

Aluminum Foam Sandwich Panels Protect EV Batteries – Positive Results in GB 38031 Testing

Battery protection in electric vehicles is becoming increasingly important worldwide, especially given the rising demand for safe and high-performance e-mobility solutions. China plays a leading role in the electric mobility sector, and the GB 38031 standard is widely recognized as a benchmark for battery safety and protection.

Havel Metal Foam has conducted internal impact tests on aluminum foam sandwich panels specifically designed as battery protection solutions. These tests yielded highly positive results, demonstrating excellent stability and protective performance.
