Zinc foam

Zinc foam is a metal foam from the Havel Lite® series: besides aluminum, zinc can also be foamed. What sets it apart is that zinc foam can fill profiles and tubes with particularly thin outer walls, for example particularly thin aluminum tubes up to 6 meters long. Havel metal foam makes zinc foam workpieces to order: from design through model and prototype to series production.

What is zinc foam?

Zinc foam is foamed zinc, the second metal that Havel metal foam makes into foam, alongside aluminum. As with other metal foams, various products can be made with the zinc foam from the Havel Lite® series; manufacturing is always tailored to the individual requirements of the customer. Its strength compared with other metal foams: it is suited to foam-filling profiles and tubes with particularly thin outer walls.

What is zinc foam used for?

Zinc foam is used above all for foam-filling, where walls are particularly thin. Typical applications are foam-filling particularly thin aluminum tubes up to 6 meters long, and foam-filling profiles and 3D profiles with complex shapes. Sandwiches, panels and plates can also be made from zinc foam.

When is zinc foam the right choice?

Zinc foam comes into its own when profiles or tubes with particularly thin outer walls are to be foam-filled; that is exactly what distinguishes it from other metal foams. So if you want to give thin-walled tubes, profiles or 3D profiles of complex shape a metal foam core, zinc foam is the right choice; for other applications, the Havel Lite® series offers aluminum foam, its established lightweight metal foam.
